Formerly Rodillian School, The Rodillian Academy is housed in a £27 million new building with state of the art technologies across all departments. We have over 1000 computers, all our classrooms have inter-active whiteboards, and we have two Apple Mac media suites. We also have a dance studio, two gyms, recording studio, lecture theatre and astro turf pitches
Behaviour in the school is excellent. Our judgement was supported by Ofsted when we were inspected in May 2012 under the new framework and were judged ‘Good with Outstanding features’, including an ‘Outstanding’ for behaviour. In short, we are a happy and well run organisation where students feel confident to strive and develop. It is a school where sound, stimulating and appropriate learning takes place so that every student can achieve their true potential. That said, we are not complacent and continue to strive to make improvements, big or small, in all facets of school life to make our organisation a truly outstanding one.
Though we may be traditional in our approach to discipline, our curriculum is as modern, innovative and personalised as we can make it. For students in Year 7 we have introduced our Resilience curriculum, where students are taught the essential skills for learning and for life. In years 8 and 9 our students can access our Enrichment curriculum, where, on Wednesday and Friday afternoons they have a raft of opportunities that they otherwise may not have, including skiing, water sports, cycling, and cake decorating. This also the time when our Rugby and Netball academies train. Further to this Year 9 students can select pre-options in order to get a taste of their preferred GCSE subjects and hopefully become inspired and enthused at the same time. We have also moved to a three year Key Stage 4 which allows students to spread the load of qualifications, further personalise their own curriculum and also prepare better for either post 16 education or work.
