We are a large school of nearly 500 children starting with our small group of 2 year olds, through to our 11 year olds, we have two classes within every year group. Opened in 1955 and named in honour of Sir Edmund Hillary’s conquest of Everest, we have grown into a two form entry school with additional classrooms being added over the last ten years.
Here, at Sir Edmund Hillary we strive to provide an enjoyable, quality first education that meets the needs of all the children in our care. Together we seek to enrich each child in their intellectual, physical, social, spiritual and emotional development, within an ethos which provides a safe, caring and supportive family atmosphere.
When the children begin their journey at our school they are split into colour teams, each named after one of Sir Edmund Hillary’s climbing team; Green – Evans, Red – Hunt, Blue – Tenzing, Yellow – Stobart. These are the teams that the children will remain in throughout their time in the school.
