The Royal Alexandra and Albert School is a boarding school for girls and boys aged 7 to 18. Our results have risen steadily since 2001 and, in parallel, our pupil numbers have gently grown from 530 in 2002 to 1000 in September 2015. With the growth of the Sixth Form and a rise in boarding numbers we expect to reach our maximum of 1100 in September 2019.
With 160 pupils in the Sixth Form we are big enough to offer a wide range of subjects but small enough to care about each pupil. 53% of all A level grades obtained in 2015 were grade B or above. Of the 70 Upper Sixth students, 66 secured a place at university. The remaining four students either went straight into employment or took a gap year.
In addition to high quality teaching, pupils enjoy outstanding pastoral care, top-class facilities and a packed schedule of activities. Our Co Curriculum Activities Programme starts at 4.00pm and finishes at 10.00pm for the Sixth Form, sometime after younger boarders are in bed. With 450 boarders and 550 Flexi Boarders this is a lively community with lessons on Saturday mornings and a significant community of boarders who stay at weekends.
Excellent results combined with affordability make this school the first choice for many parents seeking a boarding education for their child.
