Campion is a small, highly-aspirational school, located in Leamington Spa, which converted to an academy in January 2012.
The leadership team is supportive and student behaviour is very good – visitors comment on how friendly the school feels. We have a philosophy that every student can achieve and make rapid progress and we accept no excuses for underachievement. The school is a strong and cohesive community, which inspires great loyalty from pupils and parents.
There are 595 pupils on roll, including 95 in the sixth form. Since 2009, there has been a significant rise in raw attainment from 34% to 67% of our pupils gaining 5 A*-C grades including English and maths at GCSE or equivalent. At key stage 4 the school has been in the top 200 schools nationally for progress every year since 2008. Performance at Post-16 has improved dramatically since 2011. Leadership at the school is friendly and supportive with excellent opportunities provided for professional development. Our pupil’s behaviour and engagement in learning are very good.
Teaching rooms have projectors and speakers, members of staff are provided with a laptop and all students have their own text books. We have an outstanding teaching and learning team that offers coaching and support to NQTs and other new staff. All members of staff are involved in curriculum based research projects to enhance their teaching.
